Prime Minister Tarique Rahman highlighted various government plans for farmers and the general public at a street meeting in Cox’s Bazar. He made these remarks on Saturday (June 13) morning, after inaugurating the Patali Canal re-excavation program.

He stated that BNP’s politics is for the people, and with that goal, the government has undertaken various initiatives to support farmers. As part of this, a canal excavation program has been launched to improve agricultural production and irrigation systems.

The Prime Minister further announced that a one-time assistance of BDT 2,500 was promised to farmers before the elections. He added that this facility would be provided through farmer cards for purchasing seeds and pesticides.

He also spoke about women’s education and empowerment. Tarique Rahman stated that women constitute a large portion of the country’s population, and education is crucial for their self-reliance. He mentioned that opportunities for free education for women have been extended up to higher education, and provisions for stipends have been made for those who achieve good results.

Earlier, the Prime Minister’s flight landed at Cox’s Bazar airport at 10 AM. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman.

As part of his tour, after the re-excavation of Patali Canal, he will inaugurate a nationwide 25-crore tree plantation program, visit the grave of Shaheed Wasim, lay foundation stones for various development projects, and participate in other local programs.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public rally as the chief guest at the Chakaria Municipal Bus Terminal ground. Towards the end of his visit, he will inspect Cox’s Bazar sea beach and the Marine Drive area and attend a civic reception.

He is expected to return to Dhaka at night after concluding the day’s events. Administrative and political preparations have been intensified across Cox’s Bazar in anticipation of the visit.
