Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim telephoned Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tareque Rahman to extend his greetings. The phone call took place on Friday (February 20) at 3 PM, according to sources from the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the telephonic conversation, the Malaysian Prime Minister congratulated Bangladesh’s newly formed government and assured that his government would work to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries. He also expressed interest in working together with Bangladesh on various bilateral issues.
Prime Minister Tareque Rahman, in turn, thanked Anwar Ibrahim for his greetings and expressed his commitment to further expand mutual cooperation towards the development and prosperity of both Bangladesh and Malaysia.
Sources from the Prime Minister’s Office also confirmed that discussions during the phone call covered increasing cooperation on various issues of mutual interest to both nations.
It is noteworthy that Bangladesh and Malaysia share long-standing diplomatic, economic, and labor market-based relations. In recent years, cooperation between the two countries has significantly increased in the labor market, investment, and education sectors.
