Prime Minister Tareque Rahman stated that those who label the budget, formulated for the welfare of the people, as anti-people, cannot truly be friends of the public.
He made these remarks on Wednesday (June 17) while addressing a Family Card distribution program in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, as the chief guest.
The Prime Minister announced that Family Cards would be delivered to all female tea garden workers across the country within the next year. He emphasized that both men and women must work together to advance the nation, and that women’s development is not possible without their self-reliance.
He informed that scholarships have been provided to 150 children of tea workers in Sreemangal. Additionally, 40 lakh farmer cards will be distributed among farmers within the next year. He also mentioned that the BNP always aims to stand by the people of the country.
Regarding the development of healthcare services, Tareque Rahman stated that 50-bed hospitals at the upazila level would be upgraded to 100 beds within the next five years.
Addressing the budget, he said the government formulated it with the goal of changing people’s destinies. However, a political party is propagating it as an anti-people budget. He urged everyone to be aware and united against those who seek to mislead the public by branding a pro-people budget as anti-people.
The Prime Minister further stated that whenever the people of the country had the opportunity to vote, they elected the BNP. He stressed the need for public unity to sustain the pace of development. If the people remain united, no one can destroy democracy.
He asserted that the people are the greatest strength of the BNP. He added that if the 40 crore hands of the country’s 20 crore people could be put to work, a dream Bangladesh could be built.
Touching upon the issue of money laundering, Tareque Rahman said that in the past, a certain party laundered public money abroad. He assured that the current government would spend public funds solely for the welfare of the people and would take stringent measures against those involved in money laundering.
